About Us

MOMS Club of Edison was started in June 1998 by Marge Williams, a mother of 2 year old twins.  Marge had been in the workforce so she hadn't met any other new moms in her area.  She started this chapter with the idea of a support network that would reach other stay-at-home mothers like herself.  This club started with just a few members and over the years it has grown to the point where we even sistered another chapter twice.

The goals of MOMS Club are:
  • To provide a support group for stay-at-home and part-time working mothers
  • To provide a forum for topics of interest to our members
  • To perform at least one service project a year to help children in our community

To learn more about us, please join us at our next monthly meeting.  Each mom may attend two business meetings or a park day and a business meeting before deciding to join.  Dues must be paid and current in order to participate in any other club activities or vote on any chapter business.  Our dues are $25 per year.  This covers printing and mailing of our monthly newsletter and calendar, a new member packet with MOMS Club pin when you join, hospitality costs to cover some of the expense of parties and general office expenses, such as fliers to advertise our club.  For more information, please contact our Membership Vice President at momsclubofedison@gmail.com.

History of MOMS Club

MOMS Club began in 1983 when Mary James, an at-home mother in California decided she was tired of being alone at home.  She wanted to meet other at-home mothers and she wanted to find other at-home children for her children to play with.  When she discovered there were no other organizations that met during the day and allowed her to come with her baby and preschooler, she decided to start a brand new organization just for at-home mothers, and the MOMS Club was born.

The chapter she started was so successful she knew mothers in other areas must be needing the MOMS Club, too.  Soon she and other volunteers were helping mothers start MOMS Clubs across the world!  There are now over 2,000 chapters in the U.S. alone with over 100,000 members.  We also have international chapters starting too!  To find out more, please visit www.momsclub.org.
